Peter Lea-Cox
Peter graduated from the RAM in 1966, where he studied organ.
He then taught at Oundle School and later at the RAM. From 1973 he
became established as an organist and choral director in London,
holding posts at St Jude-on-the-Hill, Hampstead and St Mary-at-Hill in
the City. In 1987 he became Cantor at the Lutheran Church of St Anne
and St Agnes, and became particularly known for the presentation there
of Lutheran baroque music in concerts and liturgy, including, almost
uniquely, the complete cycle of Bach cantatas more than once. For these
events he established his small group of professional singers and
instrumentalists, the Lecosaldi Ensemble.
He left St Anne’s in 2004 to concentrate on a freelance career,
which this year includes an organ-playing tour of Denmark, and a choral
conducting tour in the USA. He serves as an organ examiner for the
Associated Board, and also composes.
